Portrait Painting

A while ago I painted 2 year old Poppy from Instagram’s @piperandpoppies.

I send the painting to Australia and about 3 weeks later Poppy ‘s mum posted this photo:

This led to more portrait commissions – which is kind of cool, but also a little frightening. If you start accepting money for a commission, the pressure to ‘get it right’ might kick in and you really need to focus on the joy of painting.

But I realized that painting children might really be ‘my thing’.
Especially small children have beautiful faces without being aware of it like grown models.

Looking at them reminds me of how I felt when I was a child and this makes me much happier than painting the face of a woman whose face, hair and body has been photoshopped to perfection.
